Best Student Paper Award


We are delighted to announce that the applications for the Best Student Paper Awards are now open! The Best Student Paper Awards will be presented to two emerging scholars who:

  • are currently undergraduate (Bachelor) or graduate (Master or PhD) students. (Please note that applications from Postdocs will not be considered).
  • have their proposal accepted by the review committee of the 12th Conference of the ITC in any format (i.e., paper, poster or part of a symposium); and
  • have submitted their full paper to the Best Student Paper Awards Adjudication Committee of the 12th Conference of the ITC by 17 April 2020.

The award includes: a waiver of conference registration fee, a monetary prize of 450€, and an ITC Best Student Paper Award certificate.

Please send your submission to Dr Philipp Sonnleitner, at [email protected] no later than 17 April 2020. Awardees will be notified by 8 May 2020 prior to the conference and will receive their award and certificate at the conference

Thomas Oakland Award


The Thomas Oakland Award for Distinguished contributions to Testing and Assessment recognizes an individual who has made noteworthy contributions to research or practice in educational or psychological assessment and who has had a positive impact at either an international level, or within their home country that represents a model for others to follow. Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • innovative assessment formats that lead to more valid assessment
  • contributions to statistics or research design in test validation
  • improved procedures for adapting tests across languages
  • improved methods for evaluating assessments used across multiple languages or cultures, or contributions to improved testing policies and practices

Nominators must be full, affiliate, or individual members of the ITC. All nominators must submit:.
  • a nomination letter describing the nominee’s contributions,
  • two letters of support from two different countries, and
  • a current copy of the nominee’s CV, highlighting the scholarly accomplishments relevant to the nomination.

The recipient of the award receives free conference registration, and $1,000 in travel expenses to attend the ITC Conference in Luxembourgh (
The award is given every second year, at the respective ITC Conference.

ITC 2020's Organising Committees are happy to invite early-career scholars to apply for one of the up to seven scholarships, in order for you to attend the conference in Luxembourg and participate in a special program for young scholars.

As scholarship holders, you will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Registration and lunches during conference
  • Attendance of two half day pre-conference workshops
  • Costs for travel and accommodation, not exceeding US$1500
